Human Aortic Endothelial Cells (HAOEC)
Human Aortic Endothelial Cells (HAOEC) are primary endothelial cells isolated from normal human aorta. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings. They respond to cytokine stimulation by expressing cell adhesion molecules. Aortic endothelial cells have been used as an in vitro model for the study of morphological and ultra-structural changes ¹ in the development of atherosclerosis. HAOEC system has also been used for the study of endothelial cell-dependent lymphocyte activation² and chemoattractant activity for lymphocytes³ in relation to the degree of atherosclerosis. 		Characterization: Positive for Factor VIII-related antigen expression. Positive for Dil-Ac-LDL uptake.
Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.
