Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells, PAOSMC

Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells are derived from tunica intima and tunica media of healthy, fibrous plaque-free porcine aortas. They are cryopreserved at first passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings. Smooth muscle cells have been found in fatty streaks of early arteriosclerosis. Proliferation of the smooth muscle cells is considered a key event in the development of advanced lesions1. Porcine smooth muscle cells serve as an alternative for the investigations of cardiac disease and arteriosclerosis1-3. It can be used in co-culture investigation with species-matched porcine artery endothelial cells.

Normal porcine aorta
Cryopreserved ampoule:
1st passage, >500,000 cells in Porcine Smooth Muscle Cell Basal Medium that contains 10% FBS and 10% DMSO.
Kit contains:
Ampuole of cryopreserved PAOSMC (P354-05), 500 ml of Porcine Smooth Muscle Cell Growth Medium (P311-500), and a Subculture Reagent Kit (090K).
Proliferating Cells:
 
Shipped in Porcine Smooth Muscle Cell Growth Medium at 2nd passage in either flasks or multiwell dishes.
Population doublings:
Can be cultured at least 16 doublings
