Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) are isolated from normal human umbilical vein. They are cryopreserved at the end of primary culture and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings. HUVEC are responsive to cytokine stimulation in the expression of cell adhesion molecules. These cell systems are commonly used for physiological and pharmacological investigations, such as macromolecule transport1, blood coagulation2, and fibrinolysis3.

Endothelial Cells play a pivotal role in a diverse range of physiological processes, such as angiogenesis and as the selective blood barrier; and pathophysiological processes, including arterial disease and cancer development. At Cell Applications, select lots of HUVEC, HAOEC, & HMVEC undergo an additional set of characterization to demonstrate stiumlation-dependent angiogenesis and other endothelial cell signaling pathways.
Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.
