5 Important Rules for Successful Culturing of Primary Cells!

Cell Applications has released a new Short video with 5 Important Rules for Successful Culturing of Primary Cells!

Primary cells maintain physiological relevance (cell morphology, growth patterns, and responses to stimuli) and are able to better represent in vivo conditions.

Primary cells are isolated directly from tissues and retain the characteristics of their origin, and thus find increasing use in life science research and pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Compared to immortalized cell lines, however, primary cells can present challenges during culture, and these can be overcome if proper care is taken.

The new Short video outlines 5 important steps to achieve optimal results with primary cells:

  1. Do not expose cryovials to ambient temperature
  2. Do not over-thaw the cryovials
  3. Do use the right kind of tissue culture ware
  4. Do not heat subculture reagents to 37⁰C
  5. Do not over-trypsinize the cells

A full-length video version with with additional tips and tricks for working with Primary Cells is available on the Cell Applications YouTube Channel!
