Description
Bovine Smooth Muscle Cell Media is a specialized formulation designed to support the in vitro culture, expansion, and phenotypic maintenance of primary bovine smooth muscle cells (SMC). It provides a balanced biochemical environment that helps preserve smooth muscle cell characteristics and reduce loss of phenotype during culture.
Smooth muscle cells are found primarily in the walls of blood vessels, especially in the tunica media of arteries and arterioles, and may also be present in the tunica intima during vascular remodeling or disease. In vessels such as the aorta and coronary arteries, these cells contribute to vascular tone, blood pressure regulation, and coordinated contraction and relaxation.
These cells exhibit phenotypic plasticity, shifting between contractile and synthetic states in response to physiological or pathological cues. Because primary vascular smooth muscle cells can readily change phenotype in vitro, specialized media are often used to help maintain their characteristic markers and functions.
This culture system may be useful for studies of hemodynamic responses, atherogenesis, inflammation, cardiovascular biology, and related applications, including cultivated meat research.
Medium carefully optimized for the characteristics and requirements unique to smooth muscle cells. Attention to detail ensures ideal cell health, viability, performance, physiology, morphology, consistency and data.
Details
CAI media are tested for sterility in order to confirm no bacteria, yeast or fungi contaminate the solutions. The products undergo further quality control for correct pH, osmolality and lack of endotoxins. A panel of different bioassays affirm the media sustain a proper environment for expected cell-type-specific culture, growth, plating, karyotype, physiology, morphology, viability, population doublings, surface markers, cryopreservation, differentiation and/or induction.
Laboratory research use only (RUO). Not for human, clinical, diagnostic or veterinary use.
