Rat Hepatocyte Attachment Media is a culture formulation designed to support the initial plating, attachment, and early viability of primary rat hepatocyte cells. By providing a defined environment with appropriate nutrients and electrolytes, this medium supports cellular adherence and early morphological stabilization after tissue isolation or cryopreservation thawing.
Hepatocytes are the principal parenchymal cells of the liver and represent the major functional cell type within hepatic tissue. Organized in hepatic lobules around central veins and portal triads, these cells perform key functions, including carbohydrate, lipid, and amino acid metabolism, glycogen storage, gluconeogenesis, xenobiotic metabolism, detoxification, and synthesis of plasma proteins and clotting factors.
Primary rat hepatocytes are sensitive during the initial post-isolation period; suboptimal media conditions can lead to poor attachment and loss of metabolic function. Rat Hepatocyte Attachment Media provides conditions intended to support early cell attachment and viability for downstream culture.
