Coronary artery plaque refers to the buildup of fatty deposits, cholesterol, and other substances within the walls of the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle. This process, called atherosclerosis, can narrow the arteries, restricting blood flow and potentially leading to coronary artery disease (CAD).
