Description
Human Colonic Fibroblast Media is a specialized formulation designed to support the attachment, viability, growth, and expansion of primary human colonic fibroblasts in vitro.
Colonic fibroblasts are heterogeneous mesenchymal cells located primarily within the lamina propria of the colon, including specialized populations near the epithelial–stromal interface and intestinal crypts. Together with other stromal and immune-cell populations, they form an important component of the colonic mucosal microenvironment.
In vivo, colonic fibroblasts contribute to tissue structure and homeostasis by producing and remodeling extracellular-matrix proteins, including collagens, fibronectin, laminins, and other matrix components. Through interactions with neighboring epithelial, endothelial, and immune cells, distinct fibroblast subsets help regulate epithelial renewal, intestinal stem-cell niches, tissue repair, barrier maintenance, and inflammatory signaling. Colonic fibroblasts share general mesenchymal features with fibroblasts from other tissues but exhibit regional and state-dependent properties that reflect the mechanical, epithelial, microbial, and immunological environment of the gut.
Colonic fibroblasts can change their behavior in response to injury and inflammatory signals. Activated fibroblast and myofibroblast populations may support wound repair and extracellular-matrix remodeling, whereas persistent activation can contribute to pathological matrix deposition and intestinal fibrosis. These cells and their interactions with epithelial and immune compartments are relevant to research on inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as colorectal cancer, cancer-associated fibroblasts, tumor–stroma interactions, and gastrointestinal fibrosis.
By providing growth-supporting conditions for primary human colonic fibroblasts, Human Colonic Fibroblast Media is intended to facilitate the maintenance and expansion of these cells for in vitro research. Applications may include studies of epithelial–stromal communication, extracellular-matrix remodeling, intestinal inflammation, fibrosis, wound repair, and tumor–stroma interactions. Culture performance and phenotype should be validated for the specific donor, passage number, and experimental application.
Medium carefully optimized for the characteristics and requirements unique to Human Colonic Fibroblasts. Attention to detail ensures ideal cell health, viability, performance, physiology, morphology, consistency and data.

Details
CAI media are tested for sterility in order to confirm no bacteria, yeast or fungi contaminate the solutions. The products undergo further quality control for correct pH, osmolality and lack of endotoxins. A panel of different bioassays affirm the media sustain a proper environment for expected cell-type-specific culture, growth, plating, karyotype, physiology, morphology, viability, population doublings, surface markers, cryopreservation, differentiation and/or induction.
Laboratory research use only (RUO). Not for human, clinical, diagnostic or veterinary use.
