Human iPSC-derived Alveolar Epithelial Cells: AEC2 / i-HAEpC2
Description
Alveolar type 2 cells (AEC2) function in ion transport and epithelium repair, as well as in the defense and immune response against microorganisms. AEC2 secrete surfactant proteins, release a host of factors that include cytokines and chemokines, and present antigen to specific T cells. Cell Applications’ AEC2 / i-HAEpC2 are Type 2 Alveolar Epithelial Cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells with our unique DISCUSTM 3D system. iPSC undergo multistage differentiation to AEC2, and are characterized by staining for TTF-1,1 a marker specific for bronchial and alveolar cells, and Surfactant protein C (SFTPC), a marker for Alveolar Type 2 cells. Endodermal tissues such as intestine, liver and lung reach full function only in a 3-D environment. Cell Applications’ i-HAEpC2 are typically >90% positive for ACE2 receptor. The marker is only present when cells are in the DISCUSTM 3D system and is rapidly lost if subjected to 2D plating. The i-Alveolar Epithelial Cell Total Kit includes cryopreserved AEC2 / i-HAEpC2, optimized growth medium, DISCUSTM 3D gel kit, dissociation solution, and other supporting reagents. *DISCUSâ„¢ is a cell-specific system of 3D discs that address the challenges of anoxia and diffusion limits in 3D tissue engineering. Measuring 3mm across and only 600 microns in depth at the thickest point, these versatile units need only common, inexpensive laboratory equipment to generate your 3D engineered tissue of choice.
