Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells: PAOSMC
Description
Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (PAOSMC) from Cell Applications, Inc. were used to investigate
- Effects of heparin on smooth muscle cell proliferation
- Heparin-mediated induction of MKP-1 phosphatase, which dephosphorylates ERK, decreasing its activity
- Normalization of myocardin signaling in the diseased heart
- Restoration of heart function by targeted shRNA inhibition of myocardin genes
Finally, PAOSMC along with Porcine Aortic Endothelial cells, both from Cell Applications, Inc., have been used as controls in a study characterizing circulating endothelial progenitor cells
Characterization: positive for smooth muscle cell specific alpha-actin expression
