Description

Human Bronchial/Tracheal Epithelial Cell Differentiation Medium is a specialized, serum-free formulation designed to support the differentiation of primary human epithelial cells in vitro. Optimized for air-liquid interface (ALI) culture, this medium helps airway progenitor cells develop into polarized, pseudostratified respiratory epithelium containing ciliated and goblet cells.

In the lung and trachea, bronchial epithelial cells form a vital basement membrane-associated barrier that protects underlying tissue from inhaled pathogen exposure, particulate matter, and gaseous pollutants. Through desmosome and adherens junction connections, these cells help maintain epithelial integrity, regulate permeability, and preserve normal apical structure during differentiation.

At the apical surface, airway cells drive mucociliary clearance by trapping airborne material in mucus and moving it out of the respiratory tract through coordinated ciliary activity. This protective barrier is central to host defense and immunological function, especially during exposure to inflammatory stimuli and environmental stressors such as smoking.

Human Bronchial/Tracheal Epithelial Cell Differentiation Medium provides a reliable culture platform for studying epithelial barrier formation, mucociliary differentiation, and disease-related airway remodeling. It is well suited for research focused on asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and other respiratory models where airway cell function and barrier maintenance are critical.

Medium carefully optimized for the characteristics and requirements unique to the differentiation of certain epithelial cells.  Attention to detail ensures ideal cell health, viability, performance, physiology, morphology, consistency and data.
