Description
Human Corneal Epithelial Cells (HCEpC) are isolated from the epithelium of the Human Cornea. They are cryopreserved at the second passage and be cultured and propagated for at least 12 population doublings. These cells have been used as models for studying the re-epithelialization of the eye following photorefractive keratectomy, and neutrophil induced corneal damage. They have also been used to study the activity of Matrix Metalloproteinases in the Corneal Epithelium. Human Corneal Epithelial Cells can also be used in research aimed at reconstructing damaged corneas.
