Human EpiVita Media
Human EpiVita Media is a serum-free cell culture media system designed to support differentiation-competent epithelial cells in vitro across multiple human tissue sources.
Description
Human EpiVita Media is a serum-free cell culture media system designed to support differentiation-competent epithelial cells in vitro across multiple human tissue sources, with applications spanning culture of human primary cells as well as cell culture workflows used for analysis and data generation in translational research. The product is provided as a basal medium combined with a growth supplement, creating a complete growth medium suitable for maintaining epithelial growth and supporting long-term cell culture quality in a defined environment. Human EpiVita Media is commonly used for epithelial cells including bladder epithelial cells, bronchial epithelial cells, cervical epithelial cells, placental epithelial cells, prostate epithelial cells, tracheal epithelial cells, and urethral epithelial cells, with a media configuration also available for epidermal models such as keratinocyte cultures.
A key feature of Human EpiVita Media is the use of a basal medium paired with a growth supplement to form an animal-origin–free culture system that supports epithelial cell growth while minimizing variability associated with traditional serum-containing conditions. This approach supports reproducible culture conditions for epithelial cells during routine application workflows and for longer-term studies where consistent cell behavior is critical. Human EpiVita Media is supplied in kit formats that include basal medium and growth supplement components that are combined based on the cell type and the desired culture conditions, helping researchers maintain a defined complete medium for experiments that require stable epithelial monolayer growth and downstream readiness for assays.
In research, Human EpiVita Media supports epithelial differentiation and phenotype maintenance, enabling scientists to study tissue-specific epithelial biology, compare epithelial responses across donors and tissue sources, and generate data suitable for analysis in applications that include cancer-relevant epithelial models and drug discovery or toxicity contexts. Because epithelial behavior is influenced by the surrounding culture environment, a defined cell culture media system such as Human EpiVita Media can be used to support experimental timelines that require sustained culture performance for processes such as proliferation, epithelial maturation, and functional readouts. Researchers use this media to culture epithelial cells under controlled conditions to support mechanistic studies, including work relevant to cancer biology and translational research pipelines where epithelial state affects experimental outcomes.
Human EpiVita Media is supplied as a product intended for research use and is compatible with standard sterile mammalian cell culture practices. The system emphasizes sterility assurance and consistent performance, which is important when epithelial cultures are used for sensitive downstream endpoints such as viability, phenotype stability, and differentiation-linked readouts. By providing basal medium plus defined growth supplement components in formats appropriate for routine laboratory use, Human EpiVita Media supports reproducible cell culture workflows used by researchers to produce interpretable experimental data from epithelial cultures, including epithelial systems relevant to tumor and non-tumor biology and comparative studies across multiple epithelial lineages.
This top-performing media, available only from Cell Applications, outperforms competitor formulations by a wide margin. Manufactured in a GMP certified facility, EpiVita is an ideal choice for fundamental life science studies, pharmaceutical drug discovery & toxicity assays, and translational research aimed at taking discoveries from the bench to the clinic.

Details
Human EpiVita Media provides an excellent research tool to study epidermal and epithelial cell biology in a serum-free culture environment.  EpiVita greatly extends the in vitro lifespan of both neonatal and adult Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (HEK).  This increase exceeds other commercially available, serum-free media while maintaining excellent cell morphology.  HEK grown in EpiVita retain a more homogeneous phenotype, consisting of small refractile cells with minimal enlargement.  When grown in EpiVita media, the most highly optimized formulation in its class, our HEK can be cultured through 20 population doublings for adult cells and 25 for neonatal cells.
When combined with specific growth supplements, EpiVita Basal Medium also provides excellent culture conditions for a wide variety of epithelial cells. Â This robust and versatile basal medium is animal origin-free, and contains essential & non-essential amino acids, vitamins, other organic compounds, trace minerals and inorganic salts.
CAI media are tested for sterility in order to confirm no bacteria, yeast or fungi contaminate the solutions. Â The products undergo further quality control for correct pH, osmolality and lack of endotoxins. A panel of different bioassays affirm the media sustain a proper environment for expected cell-type-specific culture, growth, plating, karyotype, physiology, morphology, viability, population doublings, surface markers, cryopreservation, differentiation and/or induction.
