Animal Component-Free Recombinant Proteins Extend Range of CAI Specialty Media & Reagents
SAN DIEGO, Mar 6, 2017 – To proactively support today's cell culture protocols, officials at Cell Applications, Inc. announce the addition of Animal Component-Free Human Growth Factors and Cytokines. Made using non-mammalian system components and processes, the products are designed for stem cell cultures, serum-free applications, chemically-defined media and other in vitro pre-clinical applications. Such methods must eliminate risks of undefined or contaminating factors, viruses, prions and other animal-derived ingredients. The new products extend and complement CAIs offering of specialized Media & Reagents, optimized for performance with their comprehensive Primary Cell portfolio.
Produced under stringent protocols, standards and documentation, the animal-free versions are manufactured using a non-mammalian (E.coli) -based system. This animal-free status encompasses the facility itself, and all fermenters, columns, filters, labware, lyophilization and storage vessels. No fetal bovine serum (FBS), insulin, pituitary extract (BPE) or other animal-derived ingredients can be found in these preparations. The highly purified, filtered, sterile and lyophilized proteins contain no carrier proteins or additives. As with recombinant proteins produced using traditional techniques, the animal-free versions fall under rigorous quality standards, including endotoxin levels, purity, bioactivity and concentration. The new animal-free recombinant proteins join a comprehensive list of Growth Factors & Cytokines. For those performing large-scale work, the company notes bulk quantities are also available upon request.
